Wireless Networking and Working from Home

It’s been a few days since my last post, I’ve been a little busy improving my home wireless network using a DLAN Wireless kit. This is one of those systems which uses the powergrid in your house to route the network traffic and I also bought the version which allows Wireless access as well. Very easy to setup and it works out of the box, so I’m very pleased. I also spent a long time (about 5 1/2 hours) playing Assassins Creed on the PS3 on Saturday. My wife likes to watch me playing and she suggested putting it on so it’s OK. It was sanctioned by the Boss before hand, but that game is so addictive !! I think because it is such a good game, outstanding graphics, not too much fighting and if you want, you can just wander about and enjoy the scenery.

What the new network means is that I can now work anywhere in the house (or the garden!) and have a 100% wireless connection to the internet. I’ve always been able to work in the lounge which is directly beneath my office but anywhere else was a challenge to say the least. My house is circa. 1950’s with brick walls inside and out (you know a proper house, not a wooden box!) so the signal tended to drop off in certain locations. What it also means is that I can spend more time working or at least checking stuff out whilst I’m watching TV or whatever in the evening. I find that there is still so much I want to get done in a day and by the time my wife comes in from work and the evening meal is ready, I still have not done everything. So now I can organise my time to get the important stuff done during the day and then do all the other stuff which does not require too much concentration, like checking out websites, surfing for credits and checking my stats etc.,  when I’m sat in front of the TV using the laptop.

Mind you, I’m definately not saying that this is the correct way to do any work though, but I’m one of those people who can’t just sit and watch TV, I need to be doing something else like reading a book or creating something. And I also want to spend time with my wife in the evenings and do something less intensive before I go to bed. This is a way of acheiving both goals.

With that done I can now start to concentrate more on my internet business and I have a number of projects I want to look into. I’ve got a couple of ideas for niche websites outside the Internet Marketing niche, around my other interests. As I mentioned in an earlier post I’ve got numerous niche websites and I want to start pulling them into line and making them profitable, I’ve also got a number which are related to others and I want to start networking them together to get more vistors and sales from each of them. I’ve also got a couple of ideas for some products, this time in the Internet Marketing niche.

As I get things done I’ll start posting what I’m up to on the blog so keep coming back to get the latest news.  The main problem now of course, which I think I’ve mentioned before, is knowing what to do first, so I’m going to follow Alex Goodall’s advice in his Laser Focus Shield and do some prioritization. I haven’t bought anything for a few days so I’m starting to make a start on that aspect of his advice. If you want to check out what I’m going on about you need to get Alex Goodall’s IM Index Mind Map and The Laser Focus Shield.

So see you again another time
