For Brit’s, Eleanor Roosevelt is probably not the most important woman of the 20th century. I can think of many other English women who we would probably feel fit’s that role better, but Eleanor Roosevelt certainly was a force to be reckoned with.

In today’s article Dr Jeffrey Lant, CEO Worldprofit, talks about the day when his 86 year old father met the then First Lady of the United States, whilst in the US Forces in the Summer of 1944. This was an event that he had not heard about before and only learnt about during one of their weekly telephone conversations.

I am in a similar situation to Dr Lant, in that I only speak to my mother via the telephone a couple of times a week. Like he says, it would be good to get her a webcam so we could really talk but like his father, my mother is not of the age group that really understands the technology, unless they have worked with it like my father-in-law, so our weekly telephone calls will have to suffice.

So far my Mother has not revealed some interesting meetings she or my father had with famous people, but I live in hope!!
