How To Monetize Your Traffic So You Get The Most Out Of It

Most of us are on the internet to make money. We do not want to waste our time and effort just for the fun of it. Many website owners do not want to wait very long to see profits from their websites. While there are some who are happy to let things plod along and get the traffic when it comes, there are always those who would rather see profit each and every day.

With the amount of competition there is on the internet, competition that is all too willing to get the biggest share of the traffic, you want the traffic that you do receive, to be the most profitable traffic you can find.  Therefore every method you can find to augment your sales would be very beneficial.

It is common knowledge that without traffic we would have no business. You need traffic to get visitors, to turn into customers and to get sales. Like any business, No customers equals No sales. Traffic represents all the people that get a chance to see what you have to offer. The more people who see your products, the more people there would be to buy them.

Unless it is a personal website, nobody puts up a website without expecting to make a profit. We have startup capital that has been invested and needs to be recuperated. We have on-going costs, for web hosting, advertising, possibly staff costs, etc. that need to be paid every month. With consistent traffic, we at least have a fighting chance to achieve that probability.

So it follows that monetizing your traffic would optimize your chances of making the best out of it.

Making Money from your Traffic

Advertising is the name of the game; with good advertising you can use your traffic flow to your advantage.

The best and most proven method of making a profit from your traffic is using advertising. The internet generates thousands upon thousands of visitors every day. Most of them are searching for something. While some are just looking for information, there is also a good percentage that are looking for something that they need. And if they find it on a website, they will most likely buy it.

The internet has proven to be a very reliable source in finding what was deemed to be a very unsearchable product. It has made the world a smaller place; you can advertise a product from the depths of Istanbul and still find a buyer from the center of Philadelphia.

Generating traffic is not an easy task however. You have to contend with a great number of sites to generate a good level of traffic flow. But if done successfully this could open up a Pandora’s Box of possibilities.

When you have good traffic to your site, you have a good number of potential customers, customers that are willing to spend money on your offers. But it does not end there.

You may think that all the traffic you are generating is only good for the products you are offering on your website. This is the main reason you are generating traffic in the first place.

But what about all those visitors that come to your website and don’t buy your product. You don’t want them to go to waste.

All your website visitors have been drawn to your website because of something you offered in your advertising, advertising that you have possibly paid for. If they did not buy your product, it simply means that your product may not be exactly what they wanted.  Even if they did buy, you may also find that some of your customers would be willing to buy another product if it was available for them to buy.

Does this mean that you need to load your website up with more products, and have to source or develop those new products. Not necessarily, there is a quicker way of providing more products on your website without going through all the effort to develop and market them.

You can generate more income from all your visitors and customers, by employing a number of tactics on your website.

Affiliate Programs

Affiliate programs are a good way to monetise the traffic to your website.

We all know the benefits of actively promoting affiliate products. You might already have websites which are specifically designed to promote an individual affiliate product or service. These might be the websites that you are generating lots of traffic to already.

Why not also provide links to other affiliate products on your affiliate sites or on your own product websites. These affiliate products would be related or complimentary to the affiliate products you are already promoting or to your own products.

This can monetize your traffic by having a percentage of sales generated by traffic coming from your site.

Pay-Per-Click Programs

If you can generate good traffic to your website and you are showing the right advertisements, you have the opportunity to redirect some of that traffic to sponsored links that are willing to pay you for a sizeable portion of the traffic that you have generated.

Pay-Per-Click programs, such as Google’s AdSense program will pay you for every click a visitor of your site makes on an advertised link. Put simply the more traffic you generate to your website and the more clicks that you generate to the PPC program, the more you will be paid.

Cost-Per-Action Programs

“Cost-Per-Action” (CPA) or “Pay-Per-Action” (PPA) are programs where every visitor to your website that clicks on a link and performs a specific required action, results in you being paid. This action could be simply providing their email address, or it may involve completing a survey or a form.

CPA programs usually pay more than PPC programs as the visitor has to perform the required action before you get paid, but if you are directing your visitors to the right CPA programs, they will quite happily complete the form or survey and you will get paid. The more visitors to your website that click through and complete the action, the more you will get paid.

This form of passive promotion or advertising, gives you the benefit of monetizing your traffic without doing any more work than what you are already doing for your own website. All you need to do is make sure that the other programs you are providing in the form of links to your visitors, are going to be of interest to them. It is of no use providing links to other product for dogs, if your website is marketing a product for cats. Your visitors are more than likely cat lovers, rather than dog lovers.

There are so many affiliate products and CPA offers available, you should not have any difficulty in finding some that match you own products and that your visitors could also possibly be interested in to monetize your traffic. The more traffic you generate, the more likely you are to convert some of that traffic into profit, even if those visitors are not buying your product.

All it takes is a bit of hard work and the desire to successfully launch a profit-earning site. If you are generating lots of traffic to your websites, then you should be providing as many ways as possible to get your visitors to become customers, whether directly or indirectly.
